Tuesday Feb. 24th 1829

[Message to the House proposing convention for Choice of Conusellor] On motion by Mr. Phelps, Ordered that a message be sent to the House of Representatives proposing a convention at twelve oClock to day for the purpose of electing a member of the Executive Council in the place of Reuel Washburn resigned.

A message rec'd concurring in that proposition.

[Resolve passed to be engrossed] Resolve relating to fortifications on the Penobscot River and bay was passed to be engrossed in concurrence as in new draft.

[Bill to set off Ames Hills & al from Newry to Bethel] Bill to set off Amos Hills and Luther Eames from Newry to Bethel came up indefinitely postponed for concurrence & the Senate adhere to their former vote passing this Bill to be engrossed. Sent down for concurrence.

[leave for a Bill on Pet. of Abner Bagley & others] Report on petition of Abner Bagley and others granting an order of notice accepted and sent down for concurrence came up amended so as to grant the petitioners leave for a bill and the Senate having reconsidered their former vote concurred.

[Bill to revive the Falmouth Canal Corporation] Bill to revive the Falmouth Canal Corporation for certain purposes was read once and tomorrow 10 oClock assigned for a second reading.

[Bill to incorporate to Sebago &c Navigation Company] Bill to incorporate the Sebago and Long Pond Navigation Company came up passed to be engrossed as amended and the Senate adhere to their former vote referring this Bill to the next Legislature. Sent down

[Bill providing for Surveyors of Logs in Topsham and Brunswick &c] Bill providing for the appointment of surveyor of logs at the side booms in Topsham and Brunswick in Androscoggin River and for reducing the tolls on logs that may be rafted out and secured near said booms above the falls was read once and tomorrow 10 oClock assigned for a 2nd Reading.
