Friday February 27th 1829

[Report Legislation inexpedient] Report of the committee on the Judiciary on order of January 28th instructing that Committee to inquire into the expediency of providing a remedy by Law for the discharge of persons committed to jail on precepts in favor of the State, that legislation is inexpedient and was read and accepted in concurrence.

[Resolve respecting sale of certain Land] Order of the House of Representatives that the Committee on State Lands be instructed to inquire into the expediency of passing a Resolve to authorize the Land Agent conjointly with the Land Agent of Massachusetts to sell and convey all such small tracts or gores of land in this State as may be ascertained to be the joint property of the said States was read and passed in concurrence.

[Bill & resolve passed to be engrossed] Bill recognizing the Strafford Manufacturing company as a corporation within the state and Resolve to prevent depredations on the public lands came up amended for concurrence and the Senate concurred.

[Bill for the survey &c of Logs] Bill providing for the survey and admeasurement of logs was read once and tomorrow 10 oClock assigned for a second reading.

[Bill respecting Highways postponed] Bill additional to an Act directing the method of laying out and making provision for the repair and amendment of highways came up indefinitely postponed for concurrence and the Senate concurred.

[Resolve refused a passage] Resolve in favor of Seth Spring came up passage refused for concurrence and the Senate concurred.

[Bill referred to next Legislature] Mr. Parsons from the Joint Select Committee reported Bill declaring the Penobscot River and certain branches thereof public Rivers or highways and the same was referred to the next Legislature.
