271 [Bill regulating elections] "An additional act regulating elections' came up from the House, indefinitely postponed. The Senate adhere to their vote passing said Bill to be engrossed and propose a conference, and appoint Messrs. Megquier, Goodwin and Hinds conferees on the part of the Senate. Sent down for concurrence, concurred, and Messrs. Cole, Williams, and Fillebrown were joined on the part of the House. [Banks & Banking] Bill entitled "An Act regulating Banks and Banking in this State" was taken up and the Senate reconsider their several votes om this subject, so far as to adopt a new draft offered by Mr. Kingsbury, and the same was passed to be engrossed. Sent down for concurrence.

[Bill for the abolition of imprisonment for debt] An Act for the abolition of Imprisonment of honest debtors for debt, was read a second time and the question of passing said Bill to be engrossed as taken into a new draft, was taken by yeas and nays, and decided in the negatives as follows, To Wit: [Yeas] Yeas - Messrs. Davee, Dole, Drummond, Dunlap, Gardner, Goodwin, Hall, Hutchinson, Hutchings, Hinds, Ingalls, Megquier, Morse, Pike, Steele and Sweat - 16 [Nays] Mr. Eastman -1 [Bills assigned for the 25th of April] Bill, entitled "An Act to transfer the school fund in the town of Phillips, from the Trustees to the town officers" and a Bill entitled "An Act to annex the Ministerial Fund in the town of Penobscot to the school fund" came up , the House having passed said Bills to be engrossed.
