A communication was received Amos Allen, esquire signifying his acceptance of the office of Counsellor, read and sent down
Order from the House of Representatives, instructing the committee on Literary Institutions, to enquire into the expediency of repealing the fifth section of an additional act providing for the education of youth, passed February 25, 1825, read and passed, in concurrence.
Order from the House of Representatives, instructing the committee on the Judiciary to enquire into the expediency of so altering the third section of an act, entitled an "act for the abolition of imprisonment of honest debtors for debt, passed March 31st 1831, as to allow Justices of the Peace not being of the quorum to administer the poor debtors oath, read and passed, in concurrence.
