coat & pants a dark black felt refulation hat with bugle plume etc also a blue forage cap, street shoes, or boots, gloves, flannel shirts, drawers, and a light army blue thick overcoat this is the regular infantry uniform now adopted. I hope I can now hire at least two hundred men for with about 700 and a large portion of the time with a less number we have done the duty of a full regt and done it up [?] as I think you & all [Eastern?] friends will allow. Please remember me to your Adjt Genl and other friends. In Haste I remain with much respect
