I enlisted as a wagoner in Augusta the 3d day of July 1861, by you and I have fulfiled my duty without any pay and now the Col. of the 2d Regt has taken me from my team and forced me into the ranks which you know is contrary to my enlistment and contrary to your statement to me when I enlisted if that is the way the state of Maine enlists wagoners I have been decivid and not only that but I have suffered for clothing wich they have refused to give me also hav not had any pay to purchase them now I appeal to you for my rights We have received papers from you but the Col. says they
