at Bull's run were without foundation & gained credence through a misunderstanding of the facts. I write the foregoing at the request of Dr. H.

You will hear about our regiment by Col. Wilder. I think our sick list is as small as could reasonably be expected. There has been but a single death in the regiment since I joined the regiment. Our most serious difficulty has been a sore throat, to say the least, very much like "Diptheria."

Our Brigade Surgeon Dr. Lyman of Boston published in "Boston Medical & Surgical Journal" of Dec. 12 [?] made to him upon this subject I will send you one of the [?] if I can get one. Dr. Sanger of 6th is in great trouble
