(2) Jan.26 ten miles from camp- Several reconnaissances made during these days revealed nothing of the enemy- The weather was very uncomfortable during the month of January; consequently the prescribed daily drills, parades ( ? ) were very much interrupted. Feb 14 February 14. Nineteen recruits under SS Stearns, commissioned 2nd Lt Co F, arrived in camp- Feb 17 Brig Gen Sedgwick having been promoted to command of a division left the brigade; and on Feb 17 Brig Gen D. B. Birney assumed command of the brigade. Feb 22 to 25 the regiment was on picket duty, the lines on this occasion being extended some two miles further than before ( Insert slip) Nothing of importance occured,
