Dear Governor
Capt. [Straw?] of the 11th Regt. Me. Vol. writes me that there's to be a vacancy of Surgeon in his regt. and is anxious that Doct. Jones of Bangor should be appointed. I think Dr. J. a very respectable surgeon and have no reason to doubt that he would perform the duties of such a position well. Hamlin, Fessenden, Wilson, Goodwin, Elihu, [?] Col. Stevenson brother H.G.O. and others made us a call a few days since. D.R. Stockwell, L.J. Morse and three other gentlemen from Bangor are now here. We think our regiment is in good condition.
