[Report on the petitions of Bowdoin & Waterville College & of Gardner Lyceum] Mr. Dole from the Joint standing committee on Literary Institutions, to whom was refered the petitions of the Trustees of Bowdoin and Waterville Colleges, and of the Gardner Lyceum for pecuniary aid, and also so much of the Governor's message as relates to Literature and Literary Institutions, made a report, which was laid on the table, and ordered that Three hundred copies of said report, with accompanying Bill and papers, marked A. B and C, be printed for the use of the Legislature.

[Order.] Order from the House of Representatives instructing the committee on the valuation, to deduct from the valuation of the Town of Canton, and annex the same to the town of Jay, so much of the estate real and personal returned by said town of Canton, as by an Act of the Legislature has been taken from said Town of Canton, and annexed to said Town of Jay. read and passed, in concurrence.

[Remonstrance refered.] The remonstrance of a committee of the Town of Acton, and the remonstrance of Jacob Emery, both against the petition of John Gowen and others, were severally read and refered to the Joint standing committee on the Incorporation of Towns, in concurrence.

The consideration of a Resolve apportioning the Representatives among the several counties, towns, plantations and classes at the second apportionment, was resumed, and after some debate the same was laid on the table.
