     April 7th  we went out Scouting to day. we went abought 10 miles from camp to see if we could find some rebel cavalry that is prowling arownd in this vicinity. but we could not find enything of them. and we see no sings of d___d rebel. we went to the town of Bath. and saw the warm Sulphur Springs. it is a very pretty place. It is rather cold to day.
    April 8th  to day I am in quarters. for it snows and rains like the D___l  wrote a letter to a frienrd[?] in Sandwich Mass. nothing of eny consequence has taken place to day.  April 9th  I am on guard to day.    

15 and it is snowing very hard there has nealy a foot o snow fell. the people around here says it is the greates snow storm that has been this winter. it looks now. a good deal as it does in Maine. nothing new has taken place to day wrote aletter home to day.

    April 10th  Came of guard this morning at 8 oclock. the clouds has cleared off warm and we did not do enything. only to tend our horses to day. wrote a letter in this evening.

April 11th a very fine day warm and pleasant. we went to day. one mile from Camp and sharpened up our sabers. this looks some like gitting ready
