Agreeably to previous order the Senate proceeded to the choice of a Major General for the Eighth Division of the Militia of this State. Messrs McLellan Davee and Warren were appointed a Committee to receive, sort and count the votes, who attended to the service assigned them, and reported, that the whole number of votes cast are 22 Necessary to a choice 12 Samuel P. Strickland has 22 Whereupon Samuel P. Strickland, was declared duly elected, of which the House of Representatives were informed by message.
