Mr. Cogswell from the same Committee to whom was referred an order directing them to enquire into the expediency of authorizing Assessors to tax all personal property within their respective towns and plantations, reported legislation is inexpedient. Read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence. On motion of Mr. Bradbury, Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to enquire into the expediency of repealing a Resolve passed March 9th 1832 fixing the compensation of Agents appointed upon several State Roads. Read and passed. Sent down for concurrence. On motion of Mr. Williamson, Ordered, that the joint select Committee on so much of the Governor's message as relates to the Claim of Maine on Massachusetts, be instructed to enquire into the expediency of requiring and ascertaining from the Executive of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts whether any Agents have within one year last past been employed at the supposed joint expense of Maine and Massachusetts in the further prosecution of the Massachusetts claim upon the General Government; and, if any, who, and at what expense, to report by Resolve or otherwise as early as may be possible.
