156 Sent down for concurrence.

Bill relative to the assessment and collection of taxes, came from the House indefinitely postponed, for concurrence and the Senate concur in the indefinite postponement of the same.

On motion of Mr Williamson Ordered, that Messrs. Williamson and Herrick be a Committee with such as the House may join to enquire into the expediency of passing a law to prevent the obstruction of Ferries; with leave to report by Bill or otherwise. Read and passed. Sent down for concurrence.

On motion of Mr Burnham, Ordered that, the Secretary of State b directed to prepare and lay before the Legislature a Statement of all the expenses which have been incurred by the State on account of the State Prison, including the expenses of the site the erection of buildings, the salaries and compensation of all officers and other persons employed in conducting and managing its operations, the removal and support of all the convicts, together with all other expenditures which have arisen to the State, from forming executing, conducting and carrying on the State Prison System; and also the whole amount of receipts which have accrued to the State from the operation of that system, including all sums arising from the labor of convicts, from donations by viritants [?], and all other Sources of revenue or income system of conducting its affairs.
