Mr. Shaw of Wiscasset moved to amend by adding at the end of the first Resolve the following "unless a provision be incorporated in the charter of the Bank against the establishment of any Branch thereof in any State without the consent of such State" and the question upon so amending was taken by yeas and nays and decided in the negative as follows, yeas 55 Nays 105.

Mr. Shapleigh of Berwick, moved to amend by adding at the end of the first Resolve, the following " and also against any Bill granting a charter to any Banking Company" and the question upon so amending was taken by yeas and nays and decided in the negative as follows Yeas 3, Nays 145.

Mr. Bronson moved to amend by adding at the end of the first Resolve the following "unless all subjects and citizens of a foreign government be excluded from holding stock in the same" and the question upon so amending was taken by yeas and nays and decided in the negative as follows, yeas 33, nays 105.
