�32 a company of our men the day before. but we could find nothing of them. When we was coming back. we came in sight of some of our own men that was on Picket guard. and they took us for rebel Cavalry and fired at us several shots before they found out who we was. fortunatly no one was hurt.

         May 20th 
    Nothing new to day. in Camp all day.
         May 21st
    Companies H and M of the 1st Maine Cavalry. and 3 Comp[anies not clear] of the 5 New York Cavalry was sent down to Woodstock to take a small body of rebel

33 Cavalry that has been seen there. We came in sight of them but when they saw us. they retreated. we followed them;[?] killed 5 of them. took 7 prisoners with there horses We did not lose a man. only one was severly hurt. and he was hurt by being thrown from his horse. we lost 3 or 4 horses. It was quite a skirmish.

         May 22nd 
    In camp to day. nothing of eny concequence has taken place to day
         May 23rd
    I was on guard to day. nothing of eny interst has taken place to day.
