251 Report of the Committee to whom was referred the returns of the Clerks of the Judicial Courts made in compliance with an order of the 17th of January last, was taken up and on motion laid on the table and two hundred and fifty copies ordered to be printed for the use of the Legislature.

Resolve laying a tax on the several counties in the State was read a second time and passed to be engrossed as amended, sent up for concurrence.

Report on petition of certain inhabitants of Kennebec county referring the same to the next Legislature, was read and accepted in concurrence with the Senate.

The Committee on Engrossed Bills reported as duly engrossed Bill to change the names of certain persons - to incorporate the Farmington Falls Hemp Company - for the encouragement of Agriculture, Horticulture and Manufactures. - to incorporate the Winthrop Manufacturing Company. - for preserving the Mattanawcook State Road, which were severally passed to be enacted. Sent up.

The same committee reported as duly engrossed Resolve in favor of the Orphan Asylum in Portland - in favor of the county of Kennebec - in favor of J. Berry &c. which were severally finally passed. sent up.

Bill additional to act to organize, govern and discipline the Militia of this State was taken up and on motion to amend the same by striking out the second section, the question was taken by yeas and nays and decided in the affirmative as follows
