On motion of Mr. Rogers, Ordered, that a special message be sent to the Governor and Council, informing them that in consequence of the absence of Joseph Williamson, Esq., President of this Board, the Senate have elected Josiah Pierce Esq President Pro tem.
Mr. Rogers was charged with said message.
Mr. Kelsey from the Committee on State Lands to which was referred the petition of the Penobscot Tribe of Indians, reported leave to withdraw which was read and said Petition was recommitted with instructions to report a statement of facts. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.
Mr. Cobb from the Committee on Incorporation of Towns to which was referred the petition of the Assessors of Argyle, that the bounds of that plantation may be established, reported that legislation on that subject is inexpedient, asking to be discharged from any further consideration, read and accepted. Sent down in concurrence.
a communication from the Secretary of State to the House of Representatives, in compliance with an order of the House passed on the 22d instant, transmitting a copy of the last return made to the Secretary's office by the Directors and Cashier of the Kennebec Bank, read and referred to the Committee on Banks and Banking in concurrence.
The Committee on Engrossed Bills reported as correctly engrossed, Resolves in relation to the United States Bank and the same were finally passed.
