On motion of Mr Talbot, Ordered that the joint Standing Committee on the Judiciary be directed to enquire into the expediency of altering or amending an Act entitled an Act for the abolition of imprisonment of honest Debtors for debt, passed March 31st, 1831. Read and passed. Sent down for concurrence.

On motion of Mr Gibson, Ordered, that a message be sent to the Governor, informing him of the election of Mark Harris, as Treasurer of State, and of his acceptance of that office, and also of the acceptance of said Treasurer's Bond by both branches of the Legislature; that he may take and subscribe the necessary oaths of office; which message was delivered by the Secretary. Resolve respecting the Records of the Commissioners under the Act relating to the seperation of the District of Maine from Massachusetts proper, and forming the same into a seperate and independant State, " for the benefit of the town of Burnham " for the benefit of the Maine Wesleyan Seminary; " in favor of the Passamaquoddy Indians, were severally read once and tomorrow at ten o'clock assigned for a second reading.
