2nd Maine Regiment Vols. Bangor June 4th, 1863 Hon A. Coburn Governor Dear Sir Doct. W. R. Benson has been assistant surgeon of this regiment for the last three or four months and has performed his duties as such in a very acceptable manner. He would like an appoint- ment as surgeon in some regiment. Should he be selected for such a post- tion, I have no doubt he would gracious- ly and faithfully perform the duties required.
