Duties -- prescribe curricula and standards for edu-cational programs preparing persons for licensing; provide surveys of such programs; accredit nursing educational programs; deny or withdraw accreditation from nursing educational programs; examine, license and renew licenses of qualified applicants; prosecute violators; keep a record of all proceedings; make annual report to the Governor; appoint and employ a qualified executive director.

Members -- 5 professional nurses, 1 in practice nurse education or in a school of practical nursing, appointed by the Governor with advice and consent of Council. All appointments shall be made from a list of candidates selected by the Board of Directors of the Maine State Nurses Association.
