On motion of Mr. Folsom of Eastport, Ordered that Messrs. Folsom of Eastport, Parsons of Norway & Perkins of Topsham be a Committee to enquire into the expediency of requiring persons enlisting into Independent Companies to give notice thereof to the Commanding Officer of the Standing Companies to which they belonged. read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.
Mr. Boutelle from the committee appointed to ascertain what business is necessary to be done by this Legislature, & at what time a recess may be had, reported that much interesting business of a private as well as public character has been matured & passed stages, and that the Legislature may have a recess on Wednesday the 10th instant - and on motion of Doct Shaw the report was ordered to lie upon the table.
The House resolved itself again into a Committee of the whole House, on the "Resolve in favor of Anson and Alfred Academy", Mr. Smith of Nobleboro in the chair - Mr. Goodenow of Alfred moved as follows, "That the Resolve should pass to be engrossed & that the Committee so report to the House" and after remaining some time in committee, the committee rose reported progress and asked & obtained leave to sit again.
