Saturday, January, 18. 1834.

Petition of William C. Allen, Register of Probate, for the County of York for increase of pay, read and referred to a Joint Select Committee consisting of the Delegation from the County of York. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

Resolve in favor of Jabez Bradbury, came up from the House, referred to the Committee on Claims. The Senate recede from their vote passing said Resolve to be engrossed, and refer the same in concurrence.

Petition of Alexander Reed for authority to execute a Deed from the estate of Andrew McFarland and for other purposes, read and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary, in concurrence.

Petition of John B. Smith, praying for remuneration for money expended in support of destitute & distressed emigrants, read and referred to the Committee on Claims, in concurrence.

Petition of Bangor Pier Corporation, for increase of Capital, read and referred to Committee on Turnpikes, Bridges and Canals in concurrence.

Mr. Groton from the Committee on the Judiciary, to which was referred an order directing them to inquire into the expediency of repealing an act passed June 28. 1820, imposing an excise duty on certain officers therein named, and especially on Justices of the Peace, made a report which was read and ordered to lie on the table.
