Bangor July 7th 1862 To his Excellency J.L. Hodsdon Adjutant Genl

I am a young man 24 years of age have served eight months in the U.S. Army in the Second Maine Regt was in the Battle of Bull Run the 21st of July 1861. Was discharged last January on account of sickness. but-- am now ready to march once more and seeing the call for more men. I now apply to you to see if you cannot get me a commission in the new Regt that is to be raised here in this place. over
