226. Thursday, February 26,1835. Resolve in favor of Abner B. Thompson was read the second time, and on motion of Mr. Emmons, ordered to lie on the table.

Bill additional to an Act to incorporate the Calais Railway Company was read the second time and on motion of Mr. Chandler, ordered to lie on the table.

Bill to incorporate the Lincoln Central Bank was read the second time and amended by striking out the words, "Lincoln Central," in the title of the Bill and inserting in lieu thereof the word Mariners and said Bill was further amended, and the same, on motion of Mr. Barnard, was ordered to lie on the table.

Bill to incorporate the People's Bank was read the second time and a passage refused - and the same, on motion of Mr. Fish, was ordered to lie on the table.

A message was received from the House of Representatives that they had elected Jonathan Cilley, Esquire, Speaker of the House of Representatives, during the remainder of the Session, to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of Thomas Davee, Esquire.

Bill respecting Cities (introduced in the House) was read once and on motion of Mr. Purinton, ordered to lie on the table.
