June, Monday, 15. 1863. We stayed at Warrenton Junction till noon. Then we marched our Bagage wagons. started last night at 12 oclock. We marched to or near Centerville and halted for the night. we got there at 10 oclock. the day has been very hot and Ive marched very hard. Probably there will be a battle tomorrow.

Tuesday, 16. We saddled up this morning at 5 oclock ready to start but orders came to the contaray. 4 Companies of us was sent at 9 oclock a Scouting down on the Dumfores road. we crossed the Broad river and went to the town of [illegible] found nothing of the Rebels. The report is that 12,000 Rebel Cavalry in Maryland.

Wednesday, 17. This morning at sunrise we saddled up and started. We marched to the town of Aldie and there we found the rebels. A desperate fight ensued but we drove the rebels. our loss was heavy. Our Colonel was killed. my Captin was killed. I was wounded and over half of the Co was killed or wounded.

June, Thursday, 18. 1863. I was carried last night abought one mile from the battlefield to a barn and this morning we was carried to Fairfox Station and there we took the cars and came to Alexandria. I was carried to St. Pauls [illegible] Hospital. I had my wound dressed to night and it feels better.
