48 last night. I went and got a load of nice dry straw spread it down on the ground and had a pretty good chance. We did not start till 10 oclock. The orders have been changed. two companies of our rigement is going too Front Royal. and Company H is going to Strasburg. We got to Strasburg abought 3 oclock PM. and we are going to stay here to night. and I don't know how much longer. perhaps we shall stay there several days.

June 12th we are at Strasburg today. 5 of our men has been sent to carry dispatches to Front Royal. Winchester and to

Morefield. To day the weather has been pretty warm. I wrote a letter home to day

June 13th I was in camp in the forenoon but in the afternoon I with three others of my Company was detailed to go as guards to Mount Jackson with Govener Haines of New Jersey to git the body of his son Captin Haines that was killed in battle last sunday. We came to Mount Jackson abought 30 miles from Strasburg and stoped all night. to morrow morning they are going on with a flag of truse to Harrisonburg where the rebels are to git the body it being in the hands of the rebels.
