In the name of God, amen; on the sixteenth day of July, Anno Domini one thousand seven hun- dred and seventy seven; I Tilley Haggens of Ber- wick in the county of York and State of Massachusetts Bay in New England, Merchant, being aged and infirm of body, but by the goodness of God of sound memory, and knowing I must in a little time go the way of all the Earth, I do therefore make and ordain this to be my last Will & Testament, wherein I recommend my Body to the earth for decent burial at the discretion of my Executors herein after named, and my Soul to God who gave it, hoping for mercy through Jesus Christ our Lord: and to what worldly Estate I have of all and every kind real & personal, I do give and dispose of the same in the following manner, viz,

Imprimis. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Haggens, one third part of my real Estate for her improvement during her natural life, and also all my stock of creatures and indoor moveables, also all my Negroes, except such as I shall dispose of hereafter in this my will; all to be at her disposing to and amongst my children as she shall thinks proper; and one half of the buildings on the homestead during her life: and liberty for to cut firewood on any of the lots, and also one third of my money or notes due to me. I also give her the improvement of my son Edmund's part for his bringing up, as long as she remains my widow.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my son [the word son is lined through] John Haggens, all that tract of Land which I purchased of Nathaniel Joy, and also what I purchased of Abraham Barns, and also what I purchased of Eleazer Clark, and also the school lot so called, which I purchased out of Nathaniel Gerrishes Estate; and one third part of my mills and mill priviledge, all in Berwick aforesaid, to him his heirs and assigns forever; and also that negro Boy he now has with him, Caesar by name.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Daniel Haggens all that tract of Land which I purchased of Samuel Hooper and also what I purchased of William Plaisted and
