Dear Sir

I find that all the People are much enraged against Judge Cook say [inserted] they his conduct is such as that he aught not to have any thing I think he has told what is not true and in fact he has said if we should not let him have an office he would shew some letters that would do us harme the people say if we should let him have any thing they should think there was something in it and that it would be best to let him go and pay no regard to him. I shew Capt Mc Cook the letter that Cook wrote and he said [inserted] if he had wrote so about him he would taken a whip and whiped [?] him in the street He said Cook told him that he never had wrote any thing against Bowman but when he saw the letter he stood [?] amazed to think a man would do so he has ruand [?] Bowman & maid his family destitute by getting the Post office and writing what he did if Bowman could have any office it would Please the People very much if Bowman could be Sheriff I think it would be well as his friends all would like it - he married Bridges daughter and would be pleasin to them all, and
