John S.P. Jones, Jr. Lebanon, Me.

Dear Mr Jones:

We would like to have you endeavor to secure a little information for us concerning a youn [misspelled] man you registered as an alien in the Town of Lebanon on July 2.

It would be advisable to secure the desired information indirectly as we do not want the party in question to know that we are interested in him.

Following is the name of the man and such facts concerning him as we have at present:

Richard J.G. Hopp, 36 (next birthday) Native of Germany, claims to have been in the United States since May 31, this year, and had been in Lebanon one week at the time he made out his alien registration. Gave his address as East Lebanon, care of A.H. Wentworth. Claimed his last employer was David Lloyd George of Churt, England. Occupation, "Research". New York address, care of Mrs. Chalmers, 130 Fort Washington, Ave.

We would like to have you ascertain if possible just what this man's occupation or vocation is, what was the nature of his employment with David Lloyd George, what is his means of support, how long does he intend to reside in Lebanon, does he have any callers, what about his mail (incoming and outgoing), where was he before coming to the U.S.?

Please send such repor as you are able to make to this office, attention of the undersigned.
