State of Maine.

To all who shall see these Presents.

Greeting:

Whereas, by a Resolve of our Legislature authorizing the sale of State’s Lands, and for other purposes, passed on the eighty day of February last, it is provided, that the lands and tenements owned by this State in common with Massachusetts, situated in the town of Portland shall and may be sold under the direction of the governor of such Agent as he may appoint, as soon as may be, either in conjunction with the State of Massachusetts, or such Agent as may be appointed by that State, for the like purpose, or in such other manner as to the Governor may seem most for the interest of this State: And whereas the Commonwealth of Massachusetts have authorized the sale of said lands and tenements on their part in conjunction with this State

Now therefore, Be it known, that I, Albion K. Parris, Governor of the State of Maine, by virtue of the power vested in me by the Resolve aforesaid, do hereby appoint Elias Thomas, esquire, our Commissioner of the Treasury an Agent on the part of the State of Maine, to make sale of the lands and tenements mentioned in said Resolve, as situated in the town of Portland, in conjunction with any Agent or Agents appointed for that purpose on the part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and in conjunction with such Agent or Agents to make and execute good and sufficient deeds for the conveyance thereof.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my name and caused the public seal to be affixed, the twenty second day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three; and in the forty eighth year of the Independence of the United States of America.
