State of Maine.

To His Excellency Levi Lincoln, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts:

The undersigned, Governor of the State of Maine, would inform your Excellency, that John Rice, late resident of Portland, in the County of Cumberland, and State of Maine, Laborer, charged with the crime of Larceny, as will appear by the paper hereunto annexed, is a Fugitive from Justice; and said to be in the City of Boston, in the County of Suffolk, and Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Your Excellency is, therefore, requested, agreeably to the Constitution, and a law of the United States, as well as a law of this State, to cause the said John rice, to be delivered to [?] Clement J. Dyer, who is hereby appointed to receive him, that he may be brought into this State and dealt with according to law:

In testimony Whereof, I have caused the seal of this State to be hereunto affixed, this twenty fifth day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five; and in the fiftieth year of the Independence of the United States of America.
