State of Maine.

To all persons to whom these presents shall come

Whereas before our Court of Common Pleas, begun and holden at Portland, within and for our County of Cumberland on the first Tuesday of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven, Nathaniel Raynes, late resident of Westbrook, in our said County of Cumberland laborer, was convicted of the Crime of Larceny, and thereupon by our said Court was sentenced to be punished by confinement to hard labor for the term of three years, said sentenced to be executed upon him in and within the precincts of the States Prison, situate in Thomaston in the County of Lincoln, a part of which sentence yet remains to be executed, and he the said Nathaniel Raynes, has humbly supplicated Us for mercy.

Now Know Ye, That upon full consideration of the premises, We do hereby remit to him the said Nathaniel Raynes, that part of the punishment aforesaid which yet remains to be executed; of which all our Judges, Justices, Magistrates, and Officers of every denomination are to take notice.

Witness Enoch Lincoln, our Governor, with the advice and consent of our Council and our Seal hereunto affixed at Portland, the twenty second day of December, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight; and in the fifty third year of the Independence of the United States of America.
