To all who shall see these Presents,

[to the left is a circle with "Seal." inside it and "Jonathan G. Hunton” written under it]

Greeting:

Know Ye, That Leonard Jarvis, of Ellsworth in the County of Hancock, Esquire, on the fifth day of April in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and thirty, was chosen by the People of this State, legally qualified therefor, a Representative, to represent them in the Congress of the United States of America, for the term by the Constitution of said United [States] expressed, commencing with the fourth day of March 1829, at the times and places, and in the manner of holding elections, prescribed by our Legislature agreeably to the powers therein vested by the Constitution aforesaid.

In Testimony whereof, I have caused the Seal of the State to be hereunto affixed. Given under my hand, at Portland, the twenty sixth day of June, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and thirty; and in the fifty fourth year of the Independence of the United States of America:
