Greetings:
Be it known, that John Holmes, Esquire, on the thirteenth day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand, eight hundred and twenty, was constitutionally elected by the Legislature, a Senator, to represent this State in the Congress of the United States, for such period of time, not exceeding, six years, as shall be fixed and limited by the Senate of the said United States, according to the provisions of the Constitution.
Given under our Seal witness William King, Esquire, our Governor, at Portland, the twenty first day of June, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty; and in the forty fourth year of the Independence of the United States of America.
