[Resolve - compensation of Members &c] The resolve fixing the compensation of the members of the Legislature which passed this House the 24th inst. came from the Senate amended at B for the concurrence of the House — and the House concurred.

[Resolve - authorizing appt of Committee to collect information as to best mode of supporting Paupers &c] Mr Gardiner of Gardiner had leave granted him of submitting for consideration the following Resolve. Resolved, that the Governor with the advice of the Council appoint a committee of three persons whose duty it shall be to ascertain the success which has attended the establishment of farms for the support of paupers in this and the neighbouring states and likewise to collect such information as may be in their power with respect to the different plans of supporting paupers in the neighbouring States and generally to take into consideration the existing laws respecting the support of paupers and to report by bill or otherwise on or before the first day of January next - which report shall be transmitted to the Governor to be laid before the Legislature at their next session — and be it further Resolved, that it shall be the duty of all overseers of the poor within this state to return to the office of Secretary of State for the use of the aforesaid Committee an account of all expenditures for the support of paupers within their several towns for the last three years, distinguishing the age & sex of the pauper, and the cause of such pauperism when known and any overseers of any town who shall neglect to make such return on or before the first day of July next shall be liable to forfeit and pay the sum of twenty dollars to any person who shall prosecute for the same in any court of record in this State. read and passed .
