[Report of committee of Conference - on Bill - relief of poor debtors] The committee of conference appointed on the part of the House on the subject of difference between the two branches of the Legislature respecting the bill for the relief of poor debtors — reported that it is expedient for the House to adhere to their former vote as respects the 1st section of said bill, and as to the numbering the several sections; and as to the tenth section, called in the amendments of the Senate the 9th Sec. be restored with the following proviso — at the close of said section, viz provided, however, judgment shall in no case be entered against the Surety in any such bond for a greater sum than the original debt, cost and interest and costs of suit - but a separate judgment may be entered against the principal for the penalty of the bond in case the escape be wilful. - read and accepted.

[Committee - abate tax on Houlton plantation] Ordered that the committee on New Trials be instructed to enquire as to the expediency of abating the State tax of the inhabitants of Houlton plantation so called in the County of Washington with leave to report by bill or otherwise — read and passed. Sent up for concurrence.
