[Committee to report how difficulties between China & Harlem shall be settled -]

Ordered That James McLellan of Bath, Luther Robbins of Green and Joseph Lamson of Wayne Esquires be a Committee and they hereby are authorized to receive the petition of the town of Harlem, praying to be annexed to the town of China, and the Remonstrance of the town of China against the same and all papers accompanying them - and repair to the said towns of Harlem and China, giving suitable notice to the parties interested, of the time and place of meeting, consider the question in dispute between them, and to report on or before the second Wednesday of the first session of the next Legislature: And they or a majority of them are hereby authorized, under oath, to hear the parties consider and report at said session their opinion whether the prayer of said petitioners ought to be granted, or what consideration and remuneration ought to be paid by the Inhabitants of China to the Inhabitants of Harlem; Provided, That the expence hereof shall be borne by the said Towns of Harlem and China, or either of them as said Committee may award. And the Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to furnish the Committee with the papers aforesaid and an attested copy of this order of the Legislature In Senate Feby 9th 1821 Read and passed. Sent down for concurrence. Read and concurred.
