Friday morning January 4. 1822

[1822 Jan. 4 Friday morning]

Mr. Tallman from the Committee of both Houses appointed to receive and examine the returns of votes for Governor in the several towns and plantations within the State reported that they found the whole number of votes to be twenty four thousand three hundred and eighty eight, necessary to constitute a choice, twelve thousand one hundred and ninety five, that Hon. Albion K. Parris had twelve thousand eight hundred and eighty seven and was chosen:

[Report of Committee on votes for Governor] They further reported that they had rejected the votes of the Town of Eastport, the same not being certified by the Town clerk, that they also had rejected the return from the town of Orono, the same being signed by one selectman only: that they also rejected the returns from the towns of New Portland and New vineyard, the same not having been received at the Secretary's office until the 10th and 11th days of December 1821:

They also found fourteen votes returned for a person known by them to have been born without the limits of the United States who by the provisions of the Constitution of this State is ineligible to the office of Governor, which they deducted from the amount of votes given in, and they are not contained in the report.

They further reported that they found no returns from the town of Hallowell, in the county of Kennebeck, Houlton plantation in the county of Washington, and the towns of Avon and Kingfield in the county of Somerset.
