Friday] A message from the House, by Mr. Child their Clerk, "Mr. President, "The House of Representatives concur with the Senate in their proposition for a convention of both Houses tomorrow at 9½ o'clock to choose the Executive council for the ensuing political year, and also Secretary of State & Treasurer."
On motion by Mr. Wheeler
[Message proposing convention for qualifying Governor] Ordered that a message be sent to the House of Representatives proposing a convention of of both branches of the Legislature in the Representatives' Chamber this day at twelve o'clock precisely for the purpose of qualifying the Hon. Albion K. Parris as Governor of this State, agreeably to the provisions of the Constitution.

"Mr. President, "The House of Representatives concur in the proposition of the Senate for a convention of both branches of the Legislature to qualify the Governor elect, this day at twelve o'clock."

[Convention to qualify Governor] Agreeably to assignment the two Houses met in convention at 12 o'clock, when the Governor elect, with the Secretary of State, attended by the Sheriff of Cumberland came in; and took and subscribed the oath required by the Constitution to qualify him to discharge the duties of the office of Governor of the State of Maine, whereupon proclamation was made by the Secretary of State that
[Proclamation of Governor] Albion K. Parris was elected Governor of the State of Maine, and was duly qualified to exercise all the functions of that office, and all persons in the exercise of public trusts, whether in a civil or military capacity; and all the good people of the State were required to give to his public Acts and Commands all due respect accordingly.
