Jan. 5] [Arrangements on inaugurating the Governor] Saturday morning Jan. 5. 1822 Mr. Bond from the joint committee of arrangements, reported that permission having been obtained to occupy the Rev. W. Payson's meeting house of the second parish for the public exercises, a procession should be formed and move at twelve o'clock that day from the State House in the following order Military escort, Sheriff of Cumberland, Governor and Adjutant General, Secretary of State and Treasurer, Counsellors, Rev. D. Payson & Clergy of Portland, President of the Senate, Senators, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Representatives, Citizens. Which report was read and accepted and Sent down for concurrence, came up concurred.
[Convention proposed for Secretary of State] On motion by Mr. Ripley. Ordered that a message go to the House of Representatives proposing that the convention of both Houses which is to take place this day for the choice of Counsellors, continue in session for the purpose of choosing a Secretary of State.
