[34] [1822, Jan. 7.] [Petitions committed to Com. on Public Lands.] The petition of James Treworgy for a grant of land on the Westerly line of Surry and of Samuel Brown for a grant of land in Surry, severally committed in the House to the joint standing committee on public lands, came up for concurrence, and they were severally read and committed to said committee in concurrence with the House.

[Petitions committed to Committee on Interior Fisheries] The following petitions committed in the House to the joint standing committee on interior fisheries, came up for concurrence, to wit

Petition of Samuel Hadlock & others for leave to ship Herring in sealed boxes without inspection, " of Samuel Hadlock and others to prevent setting nets to remain in the day time, in certain places, " of Peleg Tallman and others in Woolwich praying for laws to preserve certain fish, " of Jesse Rowell and others, Inhabitants of Jefferson and Newcastle, respecting Shad & Alewives in Dyer's river and they were severally read and committed in concurrence with the House.

[Petition for canal] The Petition of the Town of Montville praying for liberty to cut a canal &c. read in the House and committed to the joint standing committee on Bridges, turnpikes and canals, came up for concurrence, read & concurred.

[Committee on removal of Stove] Ordered that Messrs. Poor and Morrill be a committee to take into consideration the expediency of removing the stove in the Senate chamber to the opposite side of the room, and of opening the fire place before which the stove now stands.

[Committee on State printing] Ordered that Messrs. Tallman & Seaver, with such as the House may join, be a Committee to contract with some person or persons for such printing as may be requisite for the use of the State, the ensuing year. Sent down for concurrence, came up concurred, and Messrs. Scamman, Dunlap and Riggs were joined.
