Remonstrance of Oliver Peabody and others against petition to be annexed to the town of Levant, and
Remonstrance of Moses Hodsdon and others against petition of certain persons to be annexed to Levant, and they were severally read and committed in concurrence with the House.
[Petitions committed to Committee on Turnpikes etc.] The petition of Joseph Butterfield & others praying for leave to build a bridge over Great works stream, and the petition of Joseph Samson praying for leave to build a bridge over Androscoggin river, committed in the House to the joint standing committee on Turnpikes, Bridges and canals, came up for concurrence, and they were severally read & committed to the same committee in concurrence with the House.
[do. to Comm. on New Trials] he petition of the Selectmen of Unity praying that the doings and records of said town may be made valid, and the Petition of the Assessors of the town of Moscow for an abatement of their State taxes, committed in the House to the joint standing committee on New trials, came up for concurrence. And they were severally read and committed to the same committee in concurrence with the House.
[Report on Pet. of Inhab. of Hebron Notice] Mr. Bond from the Joint standing Committee on New trials reported that the Inhabitants of Hebron cause a copy of their petition and the order thereon, to be published in the Eastern Argus, a newspaper printed in Portland two weeks successively to the end that persons interested may appear after such notice and shew cause at the present session of the legislature, why the prayer of said petition should not be granted. Read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence, came up concurred.
