Senate Feby 3d, 1824.

[Committee on Military affairs] Order of the House that the committee who have under consideration the subject of the Militia & Military affairs, be directed to take into consideration the expediency of allowing compensation to the offices and soldiers of this State for the services required to them by law, came up for concurrence, and was read and concurred.-

[Petition referred] Mr. Wheeler from the committee on the petition of Cotton B. Brooks, reported that the petitioner cause an attested copy of his petition with this order thereon to be served upon Ruth Jenks, administratix on the estate of Nathaniel Jenks, and Samuel Gilman, late partner of said Nathaniel, and both of North Yarmouth, by the Sheriff of Cumberland or his Deputy, seven days at least before the second Wednesday of Feby. Inst.: Read, accepted and sent down for concurrence.- Concurred.-

[Bills] Bill additional to the act directing the method of laying out, and making provision for the repair and amendment of highways, was read a 2d time & recommitted.-

Bill additional to the act authorizing a Lottery for the benefit of the Cumberland and Oxford Canal Corporation. Bill additional to the act prescribing the mode of taking depositions, and Bill additional respecting Lotteries, were severally read a 2d time and passed to be engrossed : sent down for concurrence.-
