Remonstrance of a Committee of Cornish against a removal of the Courts from Alfred to Kennebunk - was read & referred to the joint committee who have the same subject under consideration. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of Simeon Millikin for a grant of Land, came from the Senate referred to the Committee on State Lands for concurrence, & the House concurred.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence appointing Messrs Campbell & Lord with such as the House may join a committee to consider what alterations if any ought to be made in the law providing for the Salaries of the several Officers of Government &c - and the House concurred & Messrs Spring of Biddeford, Spaulding of Buckfield & Ricker of Freedom were joined.

Bill additional to an act to incorporate the Trustees of the Readfield Religious & Charitable Society - was read 1 & 2d time & tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for a 3d reading.

Bill to incorporate the Gardiner Iron Manufacturing Company, was read 1 & 2d time & tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for a 3d reading.

Petition of Oliver Johnson of Gorham for authority to sell certain real estate, came from the Senate referred to the Committee on New Trials for concurrence - and the House concurred.

The committee on the subject of revising the laws respecting Highways &c, reported a Bill - report accepted.

Bill in addition to the several acts now in force, regulating the laying out of Highways, was read once, & referred to Messrs Williams of Augusta, Stone of Jay & Hill of Gouldsboro'

Ordered that the committee on New Trials be instructed to enquire if any & what alterations are necessary to be made in the Probate Laws of this State with leave &c - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.
