Ordered that the Committee on Literature & Literary Institutions be instructed to consider the expediency of amending the Laws respecting the Education of Youth &c read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

A letter was received from Elias Thomas Esquire & Treasurer elect signifying his acceptance & transmitting a Bond for the faithful execution of the trust reposed in him - The same referred in Senate to Messrs Dunlap & Lord with such as the House may join came down for concurrence - and the House concurred.

Bill in addition to the several acts now in force regulating the laying out of Highways &c - being reported with amendments which were adopted, was read a 2d & 3d time & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of Samuel Twombly & als to be incorporated by the name of the Proprietors of the Kennebunk-port Livery Stable - was read & referred to the Committee on the incorporation of towns. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of Benjamin Riggs & al for an amendment of the act incorporating the Free Meeting House in Georgetown - was read and referred to the committee on the incorporation of Parishes &c - Sent up for concurrence.

Report of the Committee on the petition of the President, Directors and Company of Cumberland & Oxford Canal Corporation, granting leave to withdraw - came from the Senate amended so as to give petitioners leave to bring in a Bill, for concurrence & the House concurred.
