Friday February 4th 1825

Met according to adjournment.

Ordered that the committee on New Trials be instructed to enquire as to the expediency of so altering the Laws regulating Registers of Deeds that they may be exempted from the duty of seventeen cents now required by law on all instruments by them recorded where the income of their respective offices shall not exceed ___ dollars - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence, instructing the committee on State Lands to enquire as to the expediency of passing a Resolve authorizing the Land Agent of this State to sell the reserved lots of land in towns that have been omitted (in the division between this State & Massachusetts) in conjunction with the Land Agent of Massachusetts - and the House concurred.

Petition of James Thompson & als for an extension of the time at which the law for the limitation of real actions shall commence - referred in Senate in the committee on New Trials came down for concurrence - and the House concurred.

Message from the Governor.

A special message from the Governor dated Feby 3d 1825, [see appendix page 226] transmitting a report of the Commissioners appointed to visit the Deaf & Dumb Asylum at Hartford, referred in Senate to the Committee on so much of the Governors former Message as relates to that subject, came down for concurrence and the House concurred.

Bill to cede to the United States of America the jurisdiction of certain lands, came from the Senate with amendments for concurrence - and the House passed the Bill to be engrossed as amended in concurrence with the Senate.
