Afternoon - Met according to adjournment.

Ordered that Messrs Quinnam of Wiscasset, Ames of Lisbon & Adams of Castine be a committee to enquire if any alterations are necessary in the law providing for the return of votes for Governor & Senators to the Office of the Secretary of State and members of Congress and also the fee bill relating to these returns - read & passed.

The Committee on the subject of Salaries, reported in part a Bill - report accepted in concurrence with the Senate.

Bill establishing the Salary of the Governor, was read 1 & 2d time & tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for a 3d reading.

Bill to exempt from taxation Manufacturing Companies of Cotton, Wool, Iron & Steel for a limited time - reported as duly engrossed - was passed to be enacted. Sent up for concurrence

Resolve on the petition of the Selectmen of the town of Otisfield, was finally passed. Sent up for concurrence.

The Committee on the subject of the Augusta Deed from Joshua Gage & als reported in favor of accepting the same - Mr Adams of Castine moved a postponement of the subject to 1st day of April next which motion was taken by Yeas & Nays & prevailed Yeas 75. Nays 64.

Mr Burr of Litchfield had leave of absence after today and Mr Watts of St George after Monday next.
