John S. Kimball, Senator elect from the County of Hancock, appeared, was qualified and took his seat

Bill to incorporate the first Baptist Society in New Castle, was read a first time and tomorrow 10 oclock assigned for a second reading.

Bill to divide the town of Machias, and incorporate the towns of West Machias, East Machias and Machias Port was read a second time and passed to be engrossed Sent down for concurrence,

On motion by Mr. Churchill, ordered that the Secretary of State be directed to lay before the Senate such Returns of the several Banks in this State as may be in his possession, which by Law were required to have been made since the session of the last Legislature.

Petition of Gershom Wait and others and the accompanying papers were taken from the files and sent to the House, by their request.

On motion by Mr Williams, Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary, be instructed to inquire as to the expediency of authorizing tenants in common, to join in prosecuting writs
