A message was sent to the House of Representatives proposing a Convention of the two Houses in the Representatives Chamber today at 11 oclock for the purpose of qualifying Joel Whitney Counsellor elect and A message was received from the House concurring in the above proposition.

Agreeably to assignment the two Houses met in Convention when Joel Whitney appeared, and before the President of the Senate, in the presence of both Houses of the Legislature, took and subscribed the oaths required by the Constitution to qualify him to enter upon the discharge of the duties of Counsellor to advise the Governor, in the executive Department of the Government during the current political year. The convention then separated.

Petition of John Chamberlain and others to be exempted from military duty was read, and in concurrence with the House, referred to the Committee on Militia and Military affairs.

Petition of Benjamin Nason and others to be incorporated by the name of the "Quamphegan Manufacturing Company was read and referred to the Committee on Manufactures. Sent down for concurrence. Came up concurred,
